Naturally occurring, oil-eating bacteria are a primary weapon employed in response to crude oil spills, and were particularly effective in the massive cleanup of Prince William Sound after the Exxon Valdez oil spill.  Capt. Chomp Bilge Cleaner employs similar bacterial formulations to digest and devour oil messes in the bilge without causing further harm to the environment.
