General
Description:
The DeFever DF44 classic is one of
the most popular cruising trawlers. It is a deep, heavy craft,
well suited for open ocean passages, or rigourous coastal
cruising. The 900 gallon fuel capacity with a 4 GPH burn rate at
her cruise speed of 7.8 knots allows a comfortable range of well
over 1000 nautical miles. This craft has had caring and
knowledgable owners. There are extensive records of
maintenance, repairs, alterations, etc., and a copy will nremain
on board. These are conveniently stored in a deep file drawer
in the main saloon. In addition, the owner will assist a buyer
with learning the systems.
Much upgrading and remodeling has been done in the past several
years, with many custom touches and improvements. This is a
very clean vessel, both inside, and out. The large, nearly
stand up engine room is the stuff of legend - and allows
fabulous access to all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
systems. The engine room space is unparalleled in a vessel this
size. The sea chest, which has all new thru hulls and seacocks
is another unique feature of the DF44, with ALL sea water intake
being drawn from a single hull opening - with all thru hulls
being visible and potentially accessible from within the boat.
To enter, you cross the large , shaded, teak deck, and open the
stand-up door to the saloon. The complete galley is to port,
and allows the cook to be part of all activities, both inside,
and outside via the pass-thru window to the rear deck. The main
salon is roomy, bright and airy. Custom leather seating hides
huge storage for supplies. A recliner permits relaxing when the
mood strikes. The forward V stateroom has been recently redone,
and the large, useable head, keeps the guests happy. The aft
cabin is the master suite. A queen mattress is over the aft
fuel tank. Lots of built-in hanging space, drawers, bedside
tables, and upper top areas provide generous storage. The
utility closet houses the washer/dryer. There are 9 screened,
opening ports in the master stateroom, so ventilation is
superb. The newly remodeled master head has a new Corian top &
sink. A roomy separate shower stall is also there.
This vessel has been maintained to a high state of readiness.
She will safely carry you on long passages, being independent
of land or marinas, if you choose.
It is located at the owner's dock, and is available for
showing. This boat was featured in "PassageMaker Magazine" in
the October 2006 issue, in the article about older boats being
upgraded for serious cruising. If you are looking for an older
trawler in great condition, you should consider this one. Ask
