New Software Display Allows PC Monitoring of Critical Boat Systems
Bainbridge Island, WA - Krill Systems, a leading manufacturer of digital marine instrument solutions, announced today the availability of a new enhancement for its digital instruments line, the Krill Soft Display. A software interface for personal computers, the convenient Soft Display provides users access to information readings from installed Krill electrical, tank and switching sensor pods. The Soft Display is the latest tool in Krill's innovative digital instrumentation line-up engineered to display critical vessel information in a concise and intuitive manner. With the addition of the Soft Display, Krill's digital instrument product line continues to empower boaters by placing important safety and maintenance reduction information at their fingertips.
Designed for vessels with overcrowded dashboards and a PC as an integral component of the electronics system, the new Krill Soft Display is the ideal instrument monitoring solution. The Soft Display user interface leverages the maximum resolution and screen size of the PC to incorporate a substantial amount of data on a single screen for at-a-glance viewing. The software also incorporates a new navigation screen, similar to displays found in aviation cockpits, that combines over 20 values and complements chartplotters by displaying key navigation information in a clear and concise graphical format. In addition, the Soft Display's unique and powerful remote monitoring capability incorporates full telematics support. Krill's technology allows boat owners and operators to access critical vessel information remotely through Wi-Fi, cellular or satellite internet connections. Soft Display screens are replicated on remote systems providing full monitoring capability from any location.
Krill's digital Instrumentation line employs a unique network of information gathering sensors to collect readings from a vessel's power sources, fuel systems, water tanks, and devices powered by on/off switches. This collected information is relayed to either the DU840 (Krill's rugged waterproof 8.4-inch TFT, sunlight-viewable, dedicated display) or a PC screen using Krill's new Soft Display for convenient monitoring. In addition, the system alerts boaters when system states change or are no longer within a specified range. Whether used with the innovative heads-up DU840 display or a PC, the Krill system is extremely easy to install, configure and use in any marine environment. By aggregating information to a single display, the Krill solution effectively reduces the dash clutter associated with traditional one-for-one system-to-instrument helms.
"Krill's digital instrumentation systems are the culmination of years of boating experience and discussions with countless boating enthusiasts," said Casey Cox, president - Krill Systems. "Our system's intuitive displays allow boaters to quickly gauge an overall picture of their vessel's critical systems and head off potentially hazardous situations. The Krill solution provides the same piece of mind enjoyed by the megayacht crowd at an affordable price."
The Krill digital instrumentation system monitors AC, battery and DC power sources within a vessel's entire electrical system giving boaters the information they need to understand which devices are active, and where power is being generated and consumed. Color-coded user-selectable alarms alert boaters to conditions that require attention. Up to twenty-four fuel and fresh, grey and black water tanks can be monitored using the Krill solution. Tank descriptions, levels and capacities are all displayed; customizable alarms announce when a user-selectable warning level is surpassed. Any device that is operated by a switch, relay, or a presence of voltage can be monitored and alarmed. Typical monitored devices include bilge pumps, exhaust fans, navigation lights, fire alarms and intrusion detection.
