BATTERY MONITOR COULD SAVE THE YACHTSMAN'S DAY More
than one experienced angler has wound up dead in the water in the heat
of a bass tournament, stranded by depleted batteries for the troll
The MoniTroll-36V, an electronic sentry for preventative battery maintenance, indicates deficiencies in the electrical system and warns of failure before it happens. The unit's microcontroller reacts to variable power use and calculates the voltage level of each battery.
The voltage level and total productive time left per battery is displayed in hours and minutes on an LCD, which can be mounted at the helm or elsewhere on the boat.
Below the hours and minutes LCD are a row of lights which glow green when all systems are functioning. When red, the lights warn of trouble in up to three battery systems simultaneously.
The lights will pulse red approximately one hour before a battery system reaches depletion; and an audio monitor will sound at intervals. When the battery is dead, the light will stay red.
CELLTEC's familiar, bright yellow master enabler switch is mounted in or near the battery compartment and relays information to the LCD via a data line. The boater can select the correct battery capacity on the switch.
When the trolling motor is used, the voltages and time remaining adjust to the draw on the batteries.
The price of the MoniTroll monitoring system is $140.00
