Intuitive Temperature Display Further Enhances Renowned Yacht System Monitoring Technology

 

Bainbridge Island, Wash. – Krill Systems, a leading manufacturer of digital marine instrument solutions, announced today the addition of temperature monitoring capabilities to its powerful digital instruments product line. Featuring advanced algorithms for predictive failure calculations, the new Krill temperature sensors identify equipment hazards well before problems arise allowing boat owners to take corrective action and avoid equipment catastrophe. The new sensor integrates seamlessly with existing Krill installations and provides fully-customizable detail. Defining the cutting edge of advancements for the monitoring of digital systems, Krill Systems ensures boaters greater convenience, safety and piece of mind on the water.

 

Designed for mainstream recreational yachts, Krill’s temperature monitoring system is engineered to display critical vessel information in a concise and intuitive manner. Boat owners determine and set the nominal operating temperature for monitored equipment. When the temperature gauges for this equipment are viewed in a row on the Krill Display, the nominal temperature markers can be lined-up on the middle of the gauge for easy and instant detection of deviations from the norm. In addition, boat owners can determine and set specific temperature warnings and alarms with parameters unique to their equipment and preferences. The Krill sensor can be set to first issue a warning, followed by an alarm when the temperature exceeds customizable high or low settings. For the ultimate at-a-glance convenience, user-selected alarms are color-coded to visually alert boaters to situations in which temperature readings indicate corrective measures are required (e.g. when a warning or alarm state is reached for a specific sensor, a orange “warning” or red “alarm” bar is clearly displayed next to the temperature gauge on Krill’s monitoring software). For added notification, an audible alarm is also issued on the installed system or through the boat’s hailer. When connected to the Internet, an email alert detailing the issue is sent to pre-designated addresses.

Krill’s temperature sensors are available in two styles designed to measure both equipment surface and ambient air temperature. Typical monitored devices include engine temperature (coolant in and out, oil, EGT), alternator and battery cases, pumps, propeller shaft packing glands, diesel heating loops, air temperature (engine room, cabin and outside), and air conditioning and freezer compressor cases, to name a few. The sensors are capable of measuring temperatures between -50C and +150C. As with all other Krill sensor readings, temperature data is fully supported by the remote Internet access feature of the PC-based SoftDisplay software.
